Due to the lack of
regulation in the adult toy industry, the
majority of adult products are made with
low quality ingredients and bad plastics
that off-gas and leak bad chemicals that
can be dangerous.
European studies of
adult toys have shown extremely high
levels of off-gassing of dangerous
chemicals like phthalates in very high
concentrations and that even in small
levels have been linked to cancer and
damage of the reproductive system. Being
an intelligent and conscious consumer of
adult products is an absolute necessity
in this unregulated market- so please
consider this a health warning and ask
about the ingredients and the coating on
the soft jelly and “cyber skin” items
which are popular and often made with
cheap PVC. As bad as these ingredients
may be for the environment, they are
even worse for sensitive tissue.
All of that said,
there are some really great eco friendly
and safe toys to use that can add
excitement and novelty to the bedroom.
As in any industry- you get what you pay
for. This makes it even more important
to invest in toys that are responsibly
made, luxuriously beautiful, functional
and long lasting.

Harmful
Chemicals Found In MOST Personal Lubricants but not the
products that are above.
The vast majority of
personal lubricant and other topical sexual enhancement
products are made with chemicals originally invented for
industrial uses, not for the body. Considering that
personal lubricants are designed for direct contact with
the body's most sensitive tissues, we believe that
consumers deserve to be educated about the ingredients
in their products. Many people have adverse reactions to
these toxic chemicals, and don't understand why. Top 5
ingredients:
Propylene Glycol -
Used as a humectant. Found in automatic and
hydraulic brake fluid. Used to make industrial and
de-icing solution for cars, airplanes and boats.
used as a solvent in paint and plastic industries.
Also used to make polyester compounds. May be
harmful by ingestion, inhalation, or through skin
contact. Irritating to the eyes and skin.
Methylparabens and
Propylparabens - Used as preservatives. Parabens are
currently under scrutiny as they have been
identified as estrogenic and disruptive of normal
hormone functions; many studies are linking them
with breast cancer tumors.
Polyethylene
Glycol/PEG - Used as a thickener. Strips the skin's
natural moisture. An eye irritant, possible
carcinogen and can produce severe acidosis, central
nervous system damage and congestion.
Phenoxyethanol -
Used as a preservative. Harmful if swallowed,
inhaled, or absorbed through the skin. May cause
reproductive defects. Severe eye and skin irritant.
Polyscorbate 60/Carboxymethylcellulose
- Used as a thickener. The first of these compounds
has been shown to cause cancer in animals.
Inhalation of these compounds has been shown to
cause cancer in animals. Inhalation of these
products could cause cehmical pneumonia. They have
been shown to cause antibody reactions.
